“Municipalities news” is the only paper, which writes about the self – government in Lithuania. It reaches outermost recesses of the country.
The weekly becomes more and more popular. You can hear on TV or radio talking about the paper. Also, you can buy it in the central newsagents of the districts.

The partners of “Municipalities news” are the members of the Common council and community, various business, political, economical associations and departments.

“Municipalities news” organizes round table debates, cycles of publications, reviews of Association of Lithuanian municipalities. Besides, it brings self – government heads opinions.

From the history of “Municipalities news”

The first number of “Municipality news” appeared on the 14 of November in 1996. The first editor of weekly Ona Balčiūnienė claimed that this paper is the result of the Sweden municipalities association support program. “Municipalities news” was made according to the Swedish newspaper “Kommun Aktuellt”.

In 1999 the Council of Association of Lithuanian municipalities decided to reform the paper and established public institution. This institution published catalogue of Lithuanian municipalities and variant publications about the sociality, self – government, laws of municipalities. The organization renders different services of publishing for the municipalities, theirs institutions and other public organizations.

“Municipalities news” has their one face. The readers survey has showed that weekly is necessary and welcome.

Government must come to an understanding with citizens and vice versa. This is the main purpose of our weekly.
